4000 miles overdue...
...but I got the van in for it's scheduled (can I still say scheduled?) maintenance service today. Asked if I could use a coupon they had out 3 months ago for 20%-off and another one I had for the oil change to be $19.99 and they gave me both. See- it never hurts to ask! The money I saved bought the girls their Easter dresses! ;)
Te-he I was a little bit offended last week when Jared's dad said (once again) that I am the most frugal person he knows... and maybe it is true. Maybe sometimes the truth hurts! It's alright there could be worse things!
Another great thing today, we signed our names a million times or so to refinance our house at 4.75% this morning. So two big things done and out of the way! Hurray for today!

I Love Spring
My first daffodil in my flower garden! There will be more opening within the next day or two but, just wanted to share!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Not really too much into this holiday, but it is fun to do a little something! Actually, I think I would have been a little more exciting but, Jared and I were at a family funeral all day yesterday so we didn't get to do a fun "green" dinner. This will have to do this year. Our morning green juice 
(proof my kids drink this-well a picture of those that do-Anika not so much!)
and shamrock cookies
made the night before. They were suppose to be for FHE but, that got pushed to the side as Jared and I were at the viewing! I had made some during the day for the kids when they got home from school, but I figure it still counts and they did make some with the babysitter last night....the idea off another blog is to have your kids roll the dough into nickel size balls and place three together and teach about The God Head being separate beings, and then squish the balls and explain, yet are as one purpase. Lesson and treat- two things in one shot and at the same time you are good for making shamrock's for St. Patrick's Day which I guess would be three things in one shot! This is a bunch of rambling and I know my punctuation is off but, I am not in the mood to take a long time and edit this!! ha! ha!

11 years in the making
Today is our anniversary. 
We just got done watching our wedding video! I am so lucky to have married such a wonderful man.
It is even more wonderful that I still think this 11 years later, if not more so!
How does time go by so quickly? I know it didn't seem to go by this fast when I was in school!

Be Ye Separate
Today while the kids watched their favorite show, AFV, I enjoyed a little nap (that one hour time change really effected me!) and then read my scriptures. I am currently in Alma and something really stuck out to me today. I hope that you don't mind me sharing some of my thoughts with you.
Alma 5:57
"And now I say unto you,
all you that are desirous to follow
the voice of the good shepherd,
come ye out of wicked and
(here it is) be ye separate,
and touch not their unclean things;..."
If I am ever in a youth calling I want this to be our theme/motto! How great are these three words and how we can use them in so many aspects of our lives. For family Book of Mormon tonight I read these from this chapter and focused on these words. We talked about what it means to "be ye separate and touch not unclean things" and how we can do this at any age. If you never hold a beer can, even if it is not yours you will never drink it...
I have learned so much from the scriptures this go around and love the words and messages that have stuck out to me. I haven't always had this when reading them and love the promise that if we will read we will learn to love the words and look forward to reading them. This is so true, because it wasn't always my favorite thing and now I really do look forward to it each day. I am so grateful for the special answers I have received this last year and over whelming ones that have changed the course of my life and the direction I want to go and the things I want to do and the person who I want to become. I have always wanted to have my own "story" of how I learned to receive answers to my prayers and reading the scriptures has taught me how this happens for me. There are two verses of scriptures that were read in Sunday School a little over a month ago that will forever alter our family for the good and when they were read I had an overwhelming feeling of the Holy Ghost come over me as He spoke words to my mind that I will always be able to lean on. (Doctrine and Covenants 6:22-23) You may read this and wonder what answer did I get from those words, there isn't a direct answer for a question? It wasn't necessarily the words, it was the feeling and the words that came to my mind because of the scripture. And that is just it. I have always looked for the words and thought were does it say, how to curb my 3 year olds tantrums? It doesn't, it is the promptings that come from reading and "being separate and not touching unclean things" while doing your best to keep the commandment and trying to have the spirit with you so that what Alma teaches in a few verses before, that you may have "a mighty change of heart, be humble, and put your trust in the true and living God and be faithful until the end." So that you can be "spiritually born of God and receive his image in your countenance...that ye also
may be partakers of the fruit of the tree of life." I don't think I would have gotten this answer had I not been sincerely praying and enveloped in my readings.
I don't write this to be boastful or anything of that sort, but to say, I know that if someone is searching for righteous things, looking for answers they really can be found. It is not easy, it takes work and time, but the answers to the questions can and will come.

Spanish Translation
This morning Jared is downtown at the Church's Translation Department getting more translating training!! For those who don't know he was hired by the Church to translate into Spanish at different functions. It is kind of funny how it all came about. Jared has been the High Counsellor over the Spanish Branch for 4 years now and each week he also translates the talks in the branch (into English for nonspanish speakers and Spanish when an English visitor speaker comes). He has also translated a few of our Stake Conferences. As you may guess, this can be a lot on ones voice! The Stake started bringing in official translators to help the last few times, so Jared was able to just sit with me! [can you believe it! -okay is was only once;)]...we'll come back to that!
Last year when the translation department came to Conference, Jared was in charge of getting the headsets passed out and afterwards, cleaned up and put away. While doing this he was making small talk with the Senior Missionary in charge of the department asking about how the church translation department works. The Missionary pretty much flat out said they only like to hire native Spanish speakers because they find the Spanish people like to hear them over "Gringo's!" (which a lot of the Spanish Branch came and told Jared after Conference they liked his translation better then the (Spanish) person who did it!!!hahaha) Jared explained he wasn't interested, just wondered....and told him how he had had some great experiences going to Bogota and wherever else he's been training in Spanish how to do trials and other law things to the Lawyers of these Countries. All of a sudden there was a different tune to the conversation and the Missionary lit up and took down all of Jared's information and told him about how they need people with law terminology to do seminars at BYU for their Law and Religion Seminar! A few days later the papers came in the mail (the Church wastes no time!) and a few days after that he was downtown in training! When he got to the training department to sign in they ask what language he was there to translate and when he said, Spanish they asked if he was sure about that. "Yes!" She told them he must be really good and at native capability because they usually only bring in natives to do Spanish! Jared said walking into the building is the most amazing thing, to see all the hundreds of dialects that translation happens for. Languages he's never even heard of, that maybe one group of people speak and they are receiving the gospel in their language.
He had a great time at the seminar (can you believe he enjoyed being at BYU?-well in a round about way!) and has translated with the department at our last Conference. He said it was so nice having a team to trade off with instead of doing all the talks for 4 hours. (2 at Adult session and 2 on Sunday) So back to me sitting alone! That's okay though I get to sit with good friends and other Sunday Widows! And the kids for the most part sit quite well in church...I think...maybe I should get feed back from those who sit around us...or maybe not...!
So anyways, the training today and in a way audition, is to try out to be on the General Conference team! Isn't that cool?! Even if he doesn't get on the team what a neat experience.
You see I have to write this all out because he doesn't write things like this in his journal or not detailed anyways and I don't want to hand write it in mine so it goes into my "public" journal! Hope you don't mind reading...
